Can You Apply for MBBS in Uzbekistan with a Previous Year’s NEET Score?

You cleared NEET last year, did not join any course, and now you are tempted to look abroad. Then comes the worry that stops many families cold: does an old scorecard still count, or must you sit the exam all over again? It is a fair concern, because paying for flights and deposits on a faulty assumption can cost a whole admission cycle. The reassuring part is that many students can use MBBS in Uzbekistan with a previous year’s NEET score if the result is still within its validity period.
Axis Institutes, an MBBS abroad consultancy in Rohini, Delhi, checks exactly that for every applicant before an application is filed.

Why NEET Is Required At All

For Indian students, NEET is not optional when studying medicine abroad. The National Medical Commission requires a NEET qualification for admission to a foreign medical programme, and the same result is needed later when you register for the Indian licensing screening exam. A student cannot join first and take NEET afterward.

The qualifying benchmark is a percentile and not a high rank:

  • General category: The 50th percentile
  • Reserved categories: The 40th percentile

Foreign universities do not usually demand a particular rank, but they do expect proof that you have qualified.

How Long Does a NEET Score Stay Usable?

Inside India, a NEET result is used for a single admission cycle. For foreign admission, current sources describe a longer window, generally three years from the date the result was declared. That means a score earned last year is, in most cases, still usable now. An older score may be close to expiry or already past it.

Because rules can be revised, treat this as a strong guideline and confirm the latest position on the NMC website or with your counsellor before you apply.

Understanding NEET Score Validity in Practice

When you look at NEET score validity for MBBS in Uzbekistan, three questions matter most:

  • When was the result declared? Count the validity from that date, not from the exam date.
  • When is the admission being made? The score must be valid when the university admits you, not just on the day you apply.
  • Did you meet the qualifying percentile? A score below the cutoff does not help, however recent.

Write down your result date and your intended intake month, then count forward. If the score is comfortably inside the window, you can proceed.

A Simple Example

Imagine you received your result in June of one year and you are planning to join the September intake the following year. Your scorecard has been valid for about a year and a few months, so there is plenty of time left. Now imagine a student whose result is nearly three years old and wants to join the September intake. That scorecard may expire before the admission is completed, so the student would need a fresh result.

What If Your Score Is About to Expire?

If your validity window is ending soon, consider these options:

  • Apply in the earliest available intake so the admission is finalised in time
  • Reappear for NEET if you want a stronger or safer score
  • Ask the university and your counsellor how the validity is counted at the time of admission
  • Avoid delaying documents, since visa and medical processes take weeks

Documents You Need Alongside the Score

A valid scorecard alone does not complete an application. Plan to have:

  • NEET scorecard or result certificate
  • Class 10 and Class 12 certificates and marksheets
  • Class 12 marks that meet the minimum for Physics, Chemistry and Biology, commonly reported as 50 percent for the general category and 40 percent for reserved categories
  • Valid passport
  • Passport size photographs in the university’s format
  • Medical certificate and vaccination records as required
  • HIV test report, issued within the last three months, where the university asks for it

Age is also a condition. Most listings require the candidate to be seventeen by 31 December of the admission year.

How the University Admission Process Works

Using Samarkand State Medical University as one example, applicants register through the official Study in Uzbekistan portal, submit an application addressed to the Rector and complete an oral interview in Biology and Chemistry along with the language of instruction. After that, the admission letter and student visa process follow. Always verify the process on the official university website or through a trusted counsellor, since steps vary between universities and years.

Common Mistakes With Older Scores

  • Assuming a score never expires
  • Counting validity from the exam date instead of the result date
  • Waiting until the final month before expiry
  • Using unofficial score screenshots instead of the original scorecard
  • Choosing a university only because an agent promises quick admission

Using the Right Score at the Right Time

A previous year’s NEET result can be a real advantage. It means you can start preparing for admission without sitting another entrance exam, saving months of stress. The trick is simply to check that the score is still valid when it matters.

Axis Institutes works with Tashkent State Medical University and Samarkand State Medical University, and the counsellors in Rohini verify score validity, marks and documents for each student before submitting anything. Bring your scorecard along, get the dates checked and know your position before you pay for a single flight.
